LED lighting trends that will dominate 2020

The lighting industry has undergone a lot of modifications in the last few decades. While the twilight years of the 20th century were dominated by traditional incandescent bulbs and compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), LEDs have proliferated the lighting industry in the 21st century. According to the top LED lighting manufacturers, LED lighting is the most energy efficient lighting technology that can be used for industrial, commercial, as well as residential purposes.

With the LED technology getting increasingly accessible and affordable, it is expected to potentially emerge as the fastest growing segment in the overall general lighting industry. Here are some of the LED lighting trends that the year 2020 may experience:

Focus will completely shift on better light quality

Experts claim that LED technology is naturally cost and energy efficient. Thus, LED lights and fixtures have found gradual acceptance in nearly all the industrial domains, ranging from automobile to manufacturing. Furthermore, with various researches backing the effects of light on human productivity, the focus in the coming year is expected to shift towards better light quality. Concerned authorities now aim to improve the quality of light in their workspaces, and LEDs emerge as the best available option.

Manufacturing costs of LEDs will continue to decrease

During the early years, LED lighting solutions were considered an expensive option. Nevertheless, LED lighting manufacturers say that the manufacturing costs of LED lights started declining from 2012 and this emerged as one of the biggest contributing factors that encouraged people to use LED appliances. The trend is likely to continue and the manufacturing costs of LEDs will further fall in 2020 as well. Mass production, decline in Average Sale Price (ASP) of chips and components, etc. are some of the key factors behind the decreasing costs.

LEDs will continue their supremacy

LEDs are the strongest and most dominant force in the whole lighting domain. Currently, they are the most efficient option available for all kinds of lighting requirements. Furthermore, since LEDs are likely to get more economical, they will undoubtedly continue to dominate the lighting domain in 2020 as well.

Since LEDs have become the standard lights across all major industry verticals, manufacturers are integrating high-end technologies to improve their respective functioning and sustainability. Smart & connected lighting solutions  based on Power over Ethernet (PoE) and Bluetooth technology are proliferating.  LED integration in solar lighting is helping out the society to reach sustainability.
